Unlimited Office Hours Overview

Office Hours is a feature that is included with select Business Choice Internet plans (excludes Business Backup and Business Connection 25). It allows you to use popular business applications every day from 8 AM to 5 PM local time without using your High-Speed Data. This feature is a service for use with web browsing, bulk transfers, real-time communications, network storage, social networking (excluding embedded streaming videos), VPN, and email. 

 

Please note: Not all internet traffic sources are identifiable and available to benefit from Office Hours. Office Hours does not include video streaming, real-time entertainment, peer-to-peer networking, gaming, and any other categories of internet content not specifically stated above.

What kind of applications does Office Hours support?

Here are examples of business applications that meet the traffic categories that benefit from Office Hours:

  • Web browsing & web-based tools – e.g., Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Microsoft 365
  • Bulk transfers – e.g., iDrive, Dropbox, SharePoint
  • Real-time communications – e.g., Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and RingCentral
  • Network storage – e.g., SharePoint, Google Docs, iCloud and Dropbox
  • Social networking (excluding video streaming within the social network application) – LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram 
  • Email – e.g., Microsoft Office, Gmail
  • VPN – Corporate virtual private networks

What types of internet content are excluded from Office Hours?

Examples of internet content that are not included and will still use your Viasat Internet plan’s High-Speed Data include: real-time entertainment, gaming, video streaming and peer to peer networking, and any other categories of internet content not specifically stated as included above.

How much data may I use during Office Hours and can I view how much data I consumed with Office Hours?

Office Hours allows you to use as much data as you need from 8am to 5pm local time for popular business apps. However, Office Hours users who use more than 2 TB in a month, which represents the top percentage of users during the hours of 8 am to 5 pm local time, may be contacted and asked to reduce usage of Office Hours. If your usage pattern exceeds the prior referenced amount for two months in a six-month period, Viasat may terminate or suspend your use of Office Hours.

 

The data used during Office Hours is not displayed in My Viasat or on your monthly invoice.

What hours are Office Hours?

Office Hours is available 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time Monday through Sunday.  Available times may vary by location.  Note that for the some counties, the available time may be +/- 1 hour (9:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, respectively). Click below for the list.

Business Backup Choice

Our Business Backup Choice plans provide peace of mind by providing an alterative internet connection in the event your primary internet fails. These plans are not intended to be used as a primary internet solution. Business Backup Choice plans are not metered plans and there are no overage changes.  

Viasat's Backup plan options include:

  • Up to 4 Mbps upload speeds 
  • 50 GB of High-Speed Data
  • Optimized VoIP traffic
  • Business-class support
  • Cyber protection against common online security threats.
CAF II Business Connection Plans

Viasat is a proud participant in CAF II, and offers business plans with discounted satellite internet, and phone service (Viasat Voice), to qualifying service areas. These plans are only available in certain census blocks where the government has allocated funding to Viasat. Business Voice Only Connection Includes:
  • Unlimited local and long-distance calling to all 50 states, plus Canada
  • Voice Mail, Voice Mail Forwarding
  • Call Waiting, Call Forwarding
  • Caller ID

Frequently asked Questions about Business Plans:

All Business plans come with a set amount of High-Speed Data that delivers the internet up to your plan's advertised speeds, until you reach your High-Speed Data limit. Your High-Speed Data resets at the start of your next billing cycle.  

 

Business Choice Plans: Come with a monthly High-Speed Data usage threshold. When you exceed this threshold, we may reduce your priority during times of congestion, which may result in slower speeds.   If you have Business Choice Unlimited plan, after your usage exceeds what we anticipate for a typical business user (1,000 GB), we may reduce your priority during times of congestion, which may result in slower speeds. To help avoid slower speed, you can purchase Data Boost, which provides an additional 100 GB of High-Speed Data for $60.00.  

 

Business Backup Choice: These are not metered plans and there are no overage charges if you consume more than 50 GB. If you use all 50 GB of High-Speed Data, data may be prioritized behind other customers during periods of network congestion, resulting in slower speeds. However, you can purchase more data in 100 GB increments for $60 with our Data Boost offering.

 

Business Connection 25:  If, at any time, data usage exceeds the High Speed data allowance, internet speeds may significantly slow until the end of monthly measurement period. However, you can purchase more data in 100 GB increments for $60 with our Data Boost offering.

Business Choice and Backup Choice: You will receive usage notification emails when you reach 70%, 90% and 100% of your High-Speed Data usage.  You can also monitor your data usage in My Viasat.  After you register and log in, you will see your current usage along with your plan's of High-Speed Data. Your usage will reset on your next bill date and any unused High-Speed Data from the previous cycle does not roll over.

 

Business Connection 25: You will receive usage notification emails once data usage reaches 100% or more of monthly 660 GB High-Speed Data allowance. You can also monitor your data usage in My Viasat.  After you register and log in, you will see your current usage along with your plan's of High-Speed Data. Your usage will reset on your next bill date and any unused High-Speed Data from the previous cycle does not roll over.

You can purchase Data Boost for $60.00 in My Viasat, in the My Viasat app, or by calling Business Care at 855-313-4111. Be sure to use any Data Boost data you've purchased before the end of your current billing cycle, as it will not roll over to the next month and expires on your bill cycle date. 

Our Business Choice plans automatically prioritize VoIP traffic, even from third parties, to ensure your internet voice calls will sound great over our Internet service. Also, voice traffic never counts against your High-Speed Data usage. If you need a VoIP (Voice over IP) phone line, Viasat has an optional Viasat Voice service to meet your needs. 

Viasat protects against common online security threats by actively monitoring and blocking suspicious activity. We can do this without any additional equipment other than your Viasat modem.
